Special Olympics torch carried through La Crosse
While the regular Olympics in Japan are getting lots of attention this week, Wisconsin’s Special Olympics is carrying on a tradition as well, even though the statewide games were called off this year because of COVID-19.
A torch representing the Special Olympics was carried throughout the city of La Crosse on Saturday, from the Veterans Memorial Field on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus to Copeland Park for a Loggers game that night.
Members of area law enforcement ran and biked along the route with the torch bearers.
The law enforcement torch run normally happens in June, when the Special Olympics are traditionally held in Stevens Point, Wis.
