Special disease supervisor could be hired by La Crosse County
The COVID pandemic has led La Crosse County to consider hiring a new health department staffer who would specialize in communicable diseases.
On Wednesday, the county executive committee will consider hiring a communicable disease supervisor, to start in October.
The hiring would be more urgent than waiting to include a new position in the county’s 2022 budget.
A resolution states that in a normal year, La Crosse County would experience around 900 cases of communicable illness.
During 2020, the number of such cases in the county ballooned to 11-thousand because of COVID-19.
