A group of La Crosse area doctors is accusing Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson of endangering Americans with bad medical advice about COVID-19.

La Crosse eye doctor Bob Freedland, speaking for Wisconsin’s Committee to Protect Health Care, tells Johnson to stop promoting the horse wormer Ivermectin as a treatment for COVID.

“If you really want to save lives from COVID-19, please stop horsing around and start promoting measures that actually work,” said Freedland during an online news conference.

Freedland says thousands of people have gotten prescriptions for Ivermectin this month, and calls to poison prevention lines have gone up sharply during that time.

Dr. Rebecca Beach is a physician in Richland Center, and she’s disturbed by the current skepticism about vaccines.

Comparing COVID to the development of the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines in the 1950’s, Beach said “I don’t believe that half the country stood around talking about how evil it was that they wanted to save the country’s children, and how bad it was for freedom.”
