Central High student dies from injuries, after crash

A Central High School junior has died in a weekend rollover crash in the Town of Shelby.

The La Crosse School District identified the student who died as Abbillyne Mitchell. Two other Central students who were in the car received minor injuries.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday, the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on County Road MM. The vehicle had gone into a ditch.

The school district released a message from Central principal Jeff Axness to students and families.

Central opened its doors on Labor Day to students, in case they needed a place to gather and receive support.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
