Woman injured in Jackson County now accused of killing roommate

A Jackson County woman found injured in an incident which left another person dead is now accused of murder in the case.

Kellie Schmidt of Brockway, Wis., faces an intentional homicide charge in the death last week of 53-year-old Thomas Boetcher.  They both lived at the same house. 

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call around 10:30 p.m. Thursday that the Boetcher needed medical attention. They discovered that Schmidt, 52, was also injured. 

Boetcher died after being taken to a hospital in Marshfield. Schmidt was treated in Eau Claire, and is now in the Jackson County jail awaiting a court appearance.     

Details of the fatal attack have not been released yet.
