A telephoned bomb threat against the Houston County courthouse and the county prosecutor has led to the arrest of a former La Crescent city councilman.

The sheriff’s department in Caledonia says Brian Krenz is jailed in Houston County on charges of making terroristic threats.

The threats were received by a court employee during the first week of August. Krenz was arrested in California about two weeks later, and was returned to Minnesota this week.

The phone call reportedly included threats to blow up the courthouse and shoot a staff member in the county attorney’s office.

The same caller also made threats the same day against businesses in Caledonia.

A six-figure bond has been set for Krenz, who’s scheduled to appear in Houston County court later this month.
