Authorities now know who was responsible for the shooting, or gunshot, that went off at the Dugout 47 bar on French Island.

Campbell Police are not releasing the identity of the person at this time. It has turned the case over to the La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office for review.

“They turned the report to us to let us determine what if any charges should be brought,” District Attorney Tim Gruenke told WIZM. “If we charge, we would send them a summons to appear.”

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, a gunshot at the bar sent shrapnel into the lower leg of a man, who was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

No other information from the Campbell Police Department or the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office has been provided.

Gavrilos, in the statement, thanked the Sheriff’s Office and the Onalaska Police Department for assistance.

“Their quick response and thorough preliminary investigation were integral in helping us identify the person of interest and closing this case without further incident,” he added.
