A Jackson County woman will be scheduled for trial on a charge of killing her male roommate.

Judge Daniel Diehn has found probable cause to try Kellie Schmidt of Black River Falls for murder in the September death of Thomas Boetcher at their home.

Schmidt could enter a plea of “not guilty” at her arraignment hearing in November.

Investigators say Boetcher died after bleeding severely when Schmidt allegedly slashed his arm, and she then attempted to hang herself.  Witnesses called in court testified about alleged incidents of domestic abuse involving Schmidt and Boetcher.

Schmidt’s original bond of $1 million cash was reduced to $75,000, and she’s been ordered not to consume alcohol or controlled substances.

She’s being held in the Clark County Jail in Neillsville.
