La Crosse woman faces 3rd OWI charge in hit-and-run crash

A La Crosse driver is facing her 3rd drunk driving charge, for an alleged hit-and-run crash in the city late Monday night. 

Police say it was literally a hit-and-run, because the driver who struck another car at 16th and Redfield ran from the scene, and said something like “I can’t have another OWI.” 

Officers found the suspect, 37-year-old Meghan Bell, a few blocks away at 20th and Green Bay Streets, and gave her a breath test. 

Bell had a blood alcohol level of .19. 

She has previous drunk driving convictions in St. Croix County from 2016, and Winona County in 2008.
