Treating yourself to a BLIZZARD on Thursday will help local children in need.

Thursday is Miracle Treat Day, where $1 or more from BLIZZARD sales at local Dairy Queens supports Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. The funding helps local children with the urgent, high-quality care at Gundersen Health System.

Beth Noffsinger, CMN Hospitals Specialist at Gundersen, told Z93 that the donations stay local.

Funding supports music therapy, art therapy, some horseback riding therapy and more. Things that might not be covered by insurance or only partially covered.

“We see things as basic as providing meal tickets to people while their kids are saying in pediatrics on campus of the hospital, whether they’re there for an overnight stay or a longer term stay,” Noffsinger said. “That’s something that benefits a lot of families, but we can help with gas cards for people when they’re traveling, to big ticket items at the hospital.”

CMN donations have helped Gundersen attain certain equipment, as well as going toward adaptive equipment for children.

Participating DQ locations include La Crosse, Onalaska, Tomah, Winona, Caledonia, Sparta, and Viroqua. Funds raised help kids in the La Crosse and 24 surrounding counties that are all part of CMN’s service area.
