Test and Stay policy on COVID begins in La Crosse schools
A new testing policy is in effect now for the La Crosse School District, aimed at keeping students in class during the pandemic.
The ‘Test and Stay” program began Wednesday, providing tests to unvaccinated students who may have COVID symptoms or a close contact.
If the tests come out negative, a student does not have to be quarantined at home and can keep attending class.
The district says Test and Stay was a reaction to the previous practice of putting an entire classroom under quarantine if one student was found to have COVID.
An exception is being made for students in sports programs, where some quarantines will be required for athletes exposed to COVID, with options to return based on test results.
