As I See It
You can’t always get what you want these days
Perhaps we’ve just been spoiled all along. We are used to being able to buy what we want, with no problem. Any size, your choice of colors, it didn’t matter. This is the USA. If you wanted it you could get it. Not so much these days. I went to the mall yesterday to discover the store I wanted to visit no longer existed. An empty space. Lots of them actually. Stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things but couldn’t find all of them. You can generally find what you want, but maybe not your usual brand. I had planned to make Chex mix but at the first store they had cinnamon and peanut butter Chex, but no corn or wheat Chex. I stopped at another store and finally found the cereal I wanted, but only in a much bigger size than I needed. And of course, things are getting more expensive. We’re being told that we probably won’t be able to find all the things on our Christmas list, and if we order something, it may not be here in time for the holidays. There are many factors at play, including labor shortages, lack of materials, shipping delays and inflation. Maybe we have been spoiled. But it has become increasingly clear. You can’t always get what you want these days.
