No Johnny Davis on Monday and no win for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team.

The Badgers fell at home 63-58 to Providence with Davis, a La Crosse native, seen in street clothes at the Kohl Center during warmups.

Davis, who leads Wisconsin with 15.0 points and 3.5 assists a game, was out due, apparently, to a bruised heel. Wisconsin called it a “lower body injury.”

Right now, the sophomore is day-to-day and expected to be back for the Maui Invitational on Nov. 22-24.

Against Providence, the Badgers were down 34-23 at halftime. The lead got pushed to 13 points with 6:13 to play.

Wisconsin pulled within five with an 8-0 run with around 2 minutes to play. It was down to 4 points after a Brad Davison layup with 17 seconds left but free throws preserved it for the Friars.

Davison finished with 25 points for Wisconsin (2-1).
