Community dinner returns to La Crosse Center for 40th Thanksgiving
Volunteers are getting ready for one of La Crosse’s biggest dinners of the year on Thursday.
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner begins at 10 a.m. at the La Crosse Center, with serving until 3. The deadline for ordering deliveries has passed, but you can still get carry-outs at the Center.
Ruth McQuiston-Keil of the planning committee is happy to have people dining at the Center again, after the pandemic prevented a big gathering in 2020.
“We are not doing temperature check this year, you don’t need waivers this year, but we are asking that everyone please wear masks just for your safety and everybody else’s,” she says.
More than three thousand turkey dinners were still served last year, as take-out orders.
It’s the 40th year of the holiday event, and once again, there will be a craft area for kids, and big-screen TV’s will show the day’s football games.
Other area communities also have dinners planned Thursday, including one at the Onalaska National Guard Armory.
