Mayo gives some doctors and workers this Friday off

Mayo Clinic Health System has its own plans for observing the holiday weekend.

Most of the Mayo locations in the region will be closed for outpatient service Friday, as part of a day of thanks to medical staffers, who have worked throughout the pandemic in the last two years.

There will also be no planned surgeries Friday.

Mayo says business at its clinics will resume normal hours Saturday, and the emergency departments at La Crosse and Sparta will continue to have 24-hour service during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
