Rotary Lights cancelled Wednesday
With the threat of some crazy winds and rain coming Wednesday night, the city has made the decision to close down the Rotary Lights display at Riverside Park.
Pat Stephens, the Rotary Lights president, said that’s never happened in its 26-year history.
He said the mayor’s office and the park’s department decided to shut down the park, due to safety concerns — rain and wind and millions of lights and other electronics don’t make for a good mixture.
The entertainment tonight and the volunteers working the park have been notified.
The park should be open again Thursday, when helicopter rides begin.
