Mayor Reynolds puts out statement regarding homelessness efforts in La Crosse
La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds released a statement Thursday, regarding the efforts the city is working on to address homelessness.
It comes about a week after a joint city-county effort failed to purchase the Chamber of Commerce building across from City Hall.
The news of that effort, essentially boosted the property’s profile with multiple buyers and it then sold for $2.1 million.
In the fall, the city used $700,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funding to acquire housing for the unsheltered at a motel, who had been living in Houska Park over the summer and fall.
The city also hired a homeless coordinator to help with these efforts.
