Fatal shooting on north side of La Crosse; no arrests yet

One person is reported dead after a shooting early Saturday in the north side of La Crosse.

La Crosse Police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Rose Street around 2:30 a.m.

One person was found shot, and died after being taken to a local hospital.

For a few hours after the shooting, drivers were asked to avoid Rose Street, which was closed between Hagar and St. Cloud Streets. Police activity appeared to be focused on an area outside the Verse Bar.

This is the first shooting death of 2022 in La Crosse.
