Logan Middle School closes again due to staff shortage

For the second time in the past week, Logan Middle School in La Crosse is having to shut down because of a lack of staffing.

Logan principal Amber Erickson sent a letter to families and students Tuesday noting in-person learning will not happen Wednesday or Thursday, again, “due to the inability to find staff coverage within our building.”

The school had already called off classes for Friday and Monday, because of meetings and the Martin Luther King holiday. In-person learning is expected to resume Tuesday.

Logan had to do the same thing last week Thursday and Friday, though the exact reason wasn’t given for either pause.

Meanwhile, La Crescent-Hokah Public Schools in Minnesota have been postponed all this week due to COVID-19 related absences of both students and staff.

Like last week with Logan, any student can get breakfast and lunch, if they are able to get to school. Breakfast from 8-9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m.-noon.

Students also don’t just get the days off. They’re expected to access their online learning curriculum through, what’s called “Canvas.” But students will not have to be part of video setting.
