26-year-old killed in car-truck collision on Hwy. 131 in Monroe County
One person killed in a collision on Highway 131 in Monroe County, near Wilton, Wis.
A Viola, Wis., Gideon Hamann, crossed the center lane and hit an oncoming log truck.
The truck kept moving until it struck a guardrail at an intersection. The 26-year-old Hamann was declared dead at the scene after his car went into a ditch.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. Monday. The highway was closed in both directions for more than a hour afterward.
It’s Monroe County’s first traffic death of 2022. Ten people were killed in crashes in the county last year.
