It has been five days since anyone has seen or heard from Hamud Faal, the missing University of Wisconsin- La Crosse student.

There is still little information known about his whereabouts, but according to the La Crosse Police Department, he was last seen around 3:30 a.m. last Sunday, walking alone southbound on Front Street, just north of Jay Street.

A search is being organized for Saturday.

The LCPD along with the UW-L police are looking for 170 volunteers to help canvas the area. Volunteers are asked to meet at the traffic circle at Riverside Park at noon to check in and get assigned a search quadrant.

The LCPD stressed the importance of arriving on time and getting checked in, to ensure everyone’s safety. Volunteers are asked to provide their name, email, phone number and local address.

The search is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. and will go until every quadrant is searched, or until dark, whichever comes first.

If you have any information on Faal’s whereabouts please call the non-emergency police hotline at 608-782-7575, or if you would like to make an anonymous report, call the La Crosse Area Crime Stoppers at 608-784-TIPS
