Suspect in January shooting death in La Crosse is arrested out of state

One of the two men accused in a fatal north La Crosse shooting has been arrested in Tennessee.

Karvel Freeman of Madison was captured a week ago in Murfreesboro, Tenn., just two days after La Crosse County charged him with the January murder of Ernest Knox.

The other suspect, Nelson Brown of Rockford, Ill., has not been found yet.

Knox was shot in the 700 block of Rose Street on Jan. 8.

Freeman remains jailed in Tennessee.

He and Brown are both charged with first-degree murder and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
