La Crosse man arrested, after randomly shooting into air in multiple neighborhoods

A day after calls to police from residents hearing gunshots, a La Crosse man has been arrested.

The shots came around 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the area of 5th and Market streets, as several people called La Crosse Police. An officer in the area also heard the shots, police said in a release.

More calls of shots fired came in later at 7th and Market, as well as Cass Street. Police report finding spent casings between 300 5th Avenue South to 9th-Market streets.

Surveillance video has the suspect shooting into the air. Police said he was randomly doing that in several neighborhoods.

From that video, police identified the man as Deantre Bell.

Around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, officers arrested the 21-year-old, who had a handgun, on the 100 block of South 3rd Street.

No other details were provided.
