Two people are being charged with drug trafficking and related crimes after a police search at their home this week.

Twenty-eight-year-old Kareem Nellum and 20-year-old Alexis Compan were arrested on Wednesday, following the search on South 24th Street in La Crosse.

Investigators found about $15,000 worth of drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana, as well as $1400 in cash and a loaded handgun. La Crosse Police recommend a charge based on a newly-signed Wisconsin law adding fentanyl to the list of restricted substances in the state.

Nellum’s jailed in La Crosse, under a $200,000 cash bond. He’s on parole for an armed robbery charge in Illinois. Compan has been released from jail.
