As I See It

Thank you to those willing to serve

Have you cast your ballot yet? Today is election day, and if recent elections are any guide, many people have already chosen to vote absentee, even though that has become more cumbersome. Many more people will head to the polls today to vote in person. Spring elections typically don’t attract a big turnout, but there are important races on today’s ballot. Voters in La Crosse County will select who will represent them on the Board of Supervisors, although a number of the candidates are running unopposed. Perhaps the biggest contest on today’s ballot is the race for seats on the La Crosse school board. Across the country a battle is being waged over how and what our children are to be taught in school. In some communities, tensions are so high, school board members are stepping down to avoid getting hit in the crossfire. But in the La Crosse school district, it is a crowded field, with six candidates running to fill three seats. It is good to see so many candidates willing to run for the board and help decide the future of local education efforts, especially in times like these. Good luck to all the candidates who chose to run, and thank you for your willingness to serve. Now, if you haven’t already, let’s take a few minutes today and select the candidates you feel most closely align with your values, and cast your ballot.

Hey Robert, Voting absentee should be cumbersome, since if not, easy mail in voting can result in negatively impacting election integrity. Have a nice day.

I’d like to thank the voters, but also thank you to the city and county clerks and their staff along with all the fantastic election workers for the training they take, the very long hours they work, and their dedication to the process!!
