West Salem passes referendum for school updates
A West Salem School District referendum passed Tuesday with 54% of the vote to go past the current revenue limit for three years to help pay for various needs.
A new roof for both the elementary and high schools, updating the Outdoor Education Center and more parking near the school’s athletic facility were among the improvements.
The plan is set to exceed the revenue limit by $2.5 million for the next two fiscal years and $2.75 million the final year.
The referendum passed by 174 votes with 2,231 people voting. Had it not, there were potential budget cuts on the way.
