Judge’s illness leads to delay in middle of child abuse homicide trial in Monroe County
SPARTA, Wis. — The judge in an area murder case has taken ill, so the jury trial in Sparta has been paused until he returns.
Monroe County Judge Mark Goodman became sick early this week, during the prosecution phase of the Marcus Anderson trial. The trial is now scheduled to resume on Monday. It was expected to conclude this week.
Anderson is a Tomah man charged with 1st degree homicide, for allegedly causing fatal injuries to a 3-year-old boy in his care. The child died in 2019.
