Twenty-year prison term ordered for 74-year-old sex offender in La Crosse County

A convicted sex offender in La Crosse County has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.  He turns 75 this month. 

Daniel Puckhaber of Rockland was sentenced by Judge Scott Horne this week, for repeated sexual assaults against the same girl, starting when she was 6 years old.

Puckhaber was a friend of the girl’s mother. He was charged with the crimes in 2018, about three years after the assaults ended. A jury convicted him last December. 

Puckhaber would be placed on supervision for 10 years, if he completes the 20-year prison term.  He had faced the possibility of up to 60 years behind bars.

He’s ordered to have no contact with children.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

    Daniel Puckhaber died the summer of 2023 in prison. He will no longer be able to hurt children.
