Judges should judge the fact, not a book by its cover

Who knew judges were so judgey? Judges are paid to determine guilt or innocence, but one former judge apparently likes to judge people over how they look. Former Wisconsin Supreme Court judge Michael Gableman is leading a taxpayer-funded investigation into Wisconsin’s 2020 presidential election. After stonewalling for weeks, Gableman finally complied with a judge’s order that he release hundreds of documents which are a matter of public record related to his investigation. Turns out he is overly concerned with what people wear and what kind of animals they like. Documents show Gableman looked into the backgrounds of some primarily low-level elections workers such as Hannah Bubacz. Bubacz works in the IT department for Milwaukee and is being criticized for how she looks. The former Supreme Court justice wrote that he believes Bubacz is a democrat, because she plays video games, has a weird nose ring, loves nature and snakes and lives with her boyfriend but isn’t married to him. He also criticized the head of the Wisconsin Elections Commission over the way she dresses. It’s not clear why he is so concerned with how people look or dress, but judges should stick to judging the facts rather than trying to judge a book by its cover.
