Wyoming woman won’t be charged in La Crosse County with taking teen girl out of Ohio
An 18-year-old woman from Wyoming will not be tried on any criminal charges in La Crosse County, after an encounter this month with Onalaska police.
Judge Gloria Doyle ruled that there is not probable cause to charge Alexandria Hernandez with any crimes in Wisconsin.
Hernandez has been accused of interfering with the custody of a 16-year-old female friend, by driving to Ohio to pick up the girl and taking a road trip with her.
The two stopped in Onalaska last week because of car trouble. Police spotted their car at a city park after hours.
The juvenile’s relatives had reported her missing. She is now back home in Ohio.
During a court hearing Tuesday, Doyle agreed with defense attorney Araysa Simpson that, if any crime was committed, it would likely have happened either in Ohio or Wyoming.
Hernandez is also back home. She took part in the La Crosse court hearing over video conference.
