Fourth Fridays offered as a new summertime celebration in downtown La Crosse

Riverside Park in La Crosse has plenty of weekly events to bring people downtown in the summer, like Moon Tunes and other concerts.

Another community event is being launched this June — a once-monthly celebration called “Fourth Fridays.”

Neal Zygarlicke, the CEO of the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce, said Thursday the original idea was to have the events on the first Friday of the month, like other communities, but other events such as Riverfest conflict with that.

Fourth Fridays will last into September, with the kickoff event happening June 24.

Food vendors, drinks and music will be featured between 3-7 p.m. on those Fridays.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

    Why not move it to Huska park to the homeless could be part of it. Free food for them maybe a couple of brews. LET Go MITCH
