La Crosse County leaders are continuing to decide what qualities they want in a new county administrator.

The executive committee of the La Crosse County Board will allow two more weeks for supervisors to recommend changes in the job description for administrator.  The current administrator, Steve O’Malley, is retiring this summer after 19 years as the first person to hold that job.

The administrator is the top non-elected official in La Crosse County, who supervises county departments and the budget process, and reports to the county board.

The committee has set June 24th as the deadline for putting together a job description. O’Malley plans to retire in August.
