Make Music La Crosse is a worldwide live, free musical celebration happening Tuesday with concerts on streets, sidewalks and parks across the city and beyond.

This will be the second year the celebration takes place in the city.

The event is held annually on the summer and winter solstice, June 21 and Dec. 21.

Make Music La Crosse is part of the larger Make Music Day — an international celebration that started in France in 1982. It has grown to be held in over 1,000 cities in 120 countries.

“It’s not about being a professional musician. It’s about celebrating the love of music,” Pump House assistant director Allison Krzych said.

The performances kicks off at noon at the Children’s Museum and happen throughout the day, with some hosting performances until 9 p.m.

Other venues include the Pump House Mural, People’s Food Co-op, Larson’s General, Downtown Mainstreet, Pearl Street Books, and a big bash at Bluffview Park.

Leithold Music in downtown La Crosse will also have a piano out front on 4th Street.

“You can walk right up and start playing and entertaining the crowd,” Krzych said.
