La Crosse Police said when they arrived around 7:40 p.m. to the West Avenue park, a verbal fight among several people got physical before someone was shot.

Lucious Q. McCloud was arrested about four hours later for shooting someone in the leg. The 20-year-old was booked into La Crosse County jail, when he arrived there to turn himself in.

McCloud is charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and battery with a weapon. The victim was treated for gunshot wounds to both legs and was released from the hospital.

McCloud told police he saw people fighting at the park, and when one of the people started to threaten him, he went to his car for a gun.

Witnesses say McCloud had a rifle, and threatened to shoot before firing at the other man’s legs.

McCloud has been let out of jail on a signature bond, and is scheduled for another court hearing on July 20th.
