We could find out this week whether both suspects in a La Crosse County triple murder will be tried at the same time.

Khamthaneth Rattanasack has a status hearing in court on Thursday. He does not have a trial date yet, but his co-defendant, Nya Thao, is scheduled to be tried next June.

Three weeks have been set aside for Thao’s trial in the shooting deaths of three men last July at a quarry in the West Salem area. Rattanasack has been accused of planning the shootings, because one victim allegedly owed him $600.

The homicide trial for Thao is scheduled to begin on June 12th of 2023, with Judge Elliott Levine setting aside three full weeks for the case.  Nemo Yang, Peng Lor, and Trevor Maloney reportedly were shot to death at the quarry on July 23rd of last year.

Last week, an attorney for Thao argued in court that it would take about a year to prepare the case for trial.
