Donald Trump goes after Wisconsin Assembly Speaker, after Robin Vos reiterated he could not decertify 2020 election
Asked the last time he spoke to Donald Trump, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker said a week ago, when the former president asked again to decertify the state’s 2020 presidential results.
The conversation came after Wisconsin’s Supreme Court ruled absentee ballot drop boxes would be illegal.
“It’s very consistent,” Vos told WISN-TV of the call from Trump. “He makes his case, which I respect. He would like us to do something different in Wisconsin. I explained it’s not allowed under the constitution. He has a different opinion, and then he put the tweet out. So that’s it.”
After the conversation, Trump, on his social media site Truth Social, said, “Looks like Speaker Robin Vos, a long time professional RINO always looking to guard his flank, will be doing nothing about the amazing Wisconsin Supreme Court decision stating loud and clear that the impossible ton control Ballot “Unlock” Boxes in the State are ILLEGAL. What a waste of a brilliant and courageous decision by Wisconsin’s Highest Court. The Democrats would like to sincerely thank Robin, and all of his fellow RINOs, for letting them get away with ‘murder.’ A Rigged & Stolen Election!”
Vos reiterated that the state Supreme Court ruling didn’t say 2020’s election was illegal.
“It just says going forward it can’t happen,” Vos said. “I think we all know Donald Trump is Donald Trump. “There’s very little we can do to control or predict what he will do.”
Trump then went after Vos again with a statement and tried to prop up the Assembly Speaker’s GOP primary opponent, though he didn’t know who it was or take a minute to look up the person’s name.
“So what’s Speaker Robin Vos doing on the Great Wisconsin Supreme Court Ruling declaring hundreds of thousands of Drop Box votes to be illegal?” Trump wrote. “This is not a time for him to hide, but a time to act! I don’t know his opponent in the upcoming Primary, but feel certain he will do well if Speaker Vos doesn’t move with gusto. Robin, don’t let the voters of Wisconsin down!”
Vos’ opponent in the Aug. 9 primary is Adam Steen.
