Viking cruise ship arrival in La Crosse now set for September

Another change in schedule for the Viking Cruise Line, getting ready for its first Mississippi River excursion to the La Crosse area.

The Viking cruise will stop at Riverside Park for the first time this year on Sept. 1.

The original date for docking had been July 21 before being rescheduled.

There had been 10 stops planned in La Crosse, but Viking is now set to visit La Crosse six times during September and October — on trips between St. Louis and the Twin Cities.

The next La Crosse visit by a big cruise boat will be Aug. 27, when the American Queen paddlewheeler arrives for the first time in 2022.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
