I talk to the homeless and take things down to them since they have been in tent city. I hear so many people talk about the homeless in a bad way, I will bet not one of those people go down there and sit and talk to them. I care about the homeless and wonder where they will be going after October. People call them lazy, just out to get what they can. Does anyone ever try to understand these people. It’s a circle, they can’t get food stamps or something’s because they don’t have a address, they can’t get a address with out out a job, and there’s to many people out there who won’t take a chance with them for jobs and not to many will rent to them. It’s a circle for them that has them going around and around..After your told over and over and over again ” no” they won’t take a chance to hire them, they won’t rent to them, after a while they just give up. And the ones who do try and get a job or go look for a job come back to find all there stuff stolen. Then we try to help, again. So how can these people get help, no one wants to rent to them or hire them , when they do have a job or try to get one all there stuff is taken.there are no shower’s for them to take a bath, so this is how they look when they go out. People complain that there’s drugs and stuff down there, yes there is, so why isn’t something being done about that, you talk to the homeless and they will tell you they don’t want it either, they will tell you who’s doing the drugs and causing the problems, so why isn’t there more police in view so this stops.i go down there and sit and talk to these people, some for hours, I love getting to know them. These people need more one on one help. And I’ll tell you these people take a long long time before they trust you.it took me a long long time when they were at tent city, I was never afraid to go down there even tho I was told it was dangerous. They knew me and watched over me down there. I could tell lots of stories, these people are people, we would get to know them, take birthday cakes down there, we even took small Christmas trees for some. These people have to learn to “trust ‘ you before they open up to you, before you get to know them. We fell in love with one of the ladies there, that’s a story, but we ended up adopting her, we helped her then my family got to know her, she now lives at my Dad’s house , they had a extra room. She’s been there a few years now. We took a chance. I didn’t mean to get this so long, sorry. But I really loved getting to “know” the people. And winter coming up I wonder what will happen to them.there was I feel so much more the city could have done when they were down there. Sorry I wrote so much, I guess I just wish there was more that could be done.
