1st-degree murder charge for Onalaska suspect accused of choking, stabbing 15-year-old girl while she was asleep

A cash bond of $50,000 is set for a 17-year-old, who’s accused of trying to kill a 15-year-old girl in her Onalaska home last week.

Austin Bailey is accused of attempted first-degree murder for trying to strangle the girl while she was sleeping last Friday. When the victim woke up, Bailey took out a knife and began stabbing her.

She fought back and Bailey took off. Police called his phone, and he surrendered near some apartments, while still carrying a knife.

Bailey is also charged with use of a dangerous weapon and burglary while armed.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
