Passenger levels at La Crosse’s airport rising after low spell in early summer

The La Crosse Airport’s passenger numbers are continuing to bounce back from the low for the year, recorded in June.

The airport had 5,012 passengers come through that month, but in August, the total was 5,955.

A year ago, August was the airport’s busiest month, with 8,605 commercial passengers, but last month’s number is a 31 percent drop from that total.

The best month so far this year has been March, partly because of worker shortages and service cutbacks since then. August now ranks as the 4th busiest month this year at LSE.

The passenger total for 2022 through August has been 45,000, which exceeds the total of 43,000 for the entire year of 2020, when the pandemic kept numbers well below normal.

Bring back the LaCrosse to Milwaukee flights. Those were popular back when Midwest/Skyway were around. Every flight either to or from Milwaukee was full. I hate O’Hare!
