Another La Crosse committee to look Thursday at purchase of Marine CU building for affordable housing
The plan to develop housing in a north La Crosse office building comes before another city committee Thursday night.
The council’s Finance and Personnel Committee could vote at the 6 p.m. meeting on a resolution to buy the Marine Credit Union offices on Monitor Street for affordable housing. (full agenda)
On Tuesday, the Judiciary and Administration Committee voted down a proposal to rezone the offices for residential use, but the resolution will still move on to the full council meeting next week.
The city made an initial offer of $2.2 million for the Marine building, but could spend several millions more to convert it into up to 30 apartments.
