County Board Vice Chair, Couleecap’s Kim Cable on homeless situation in La Crosse
A week away from the “campground” for unsheltered at Houska Park in La Crosse ending, county board vice chair Kim Cable joined WIZM on Tuesday, to discuss the homeless situation in the area.
La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:07 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.
On La Crosse Talk PM, Cable discussed why the homeless situation has grown to unprecedented numbers, what she thinks of the Houska plan over the past spring and summer and what the La Crosse County Board has been doing both short- and long-term to help people who are unsheltered.
At last count, there were around 140 homeless in the La Crosse area. Last year, that number was around 90.
Along with being on the county board since 2014, Cable is also Couleecap’s Housing and Community Services Director.
