Doyle, Huebsch, other area Wisconsin Assembly candidates — except for Loren Oldenburg — take part in WIZM election survey

Races in the Wisconsin’s state Legislature are, for the most part, not competitive, due to gerrymandering.

But one area state Assembly district is said to be highly sought after by both parties because it is one of the few that blends voters on both sides of the aisle.

That District: Wisconsin’s 94th, representing the greater La Crosse Area.

A recent questionnaire from the WIZM News team asked the two candidates in that race and others in the area, their thoughts on things like school referendums, PFAS, the Legislature adjourning for 10-consecutive months, or what to do with the state’s $5 billion budget surplus, among other things.

Democratic incumbent Steve Doyle and Republican challenger Ryan Huebsch answered those questions for the 94th. Those answers can be found here.

Both candidates — Democratic incumbent Jill Billings and Republican challenger Chris Woodard — did so, as well, in the 95th Assembly, which includes the city of La Crosse. Those answers are here.

Only one candidate refused to answer the questions, Republican incumbent Loren Oldenburg in the 96th District, which includes parts of Vernon, Monroe and Crawford counties south and east of La Crosse.

As to why he didn’t want to answer the questions, Oldenburg only responded, “Yes I have received your email at this time I will pass on responding to your questions.”

Asked why he refused, Oldenburg did not reply.
