MADISON, Wisc. — Only 14 minutes of action for La Crosse native Jordan Davis in the 78-75 loss Tuesday by the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team to Wake Forest.

Davis, who had five fouls in that time, was 1-for-2 from beyond the arc, scoring three points for the Badgers (5-2) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Down one with 15 seconds left, Tyler Wahl missed a layup. After exchanging free throws, Chucky Hepburn missed a 3 at the buzzer for UW.

Wake’s Tyree Appleby scored 20 of his season-high 32 in the second half. Appleby, a transfer from Florida, was 11 of 16 from the field, hitting four 3-pointers.

Hepburn shot 6 of 12 from long range and scored 23 points to lead Wisconsin (5-2), which shot 42.9 percent from the field and from deep. Wake was 53.7 percent from the field but 8-for-24 from beyond the arc. It did outrebound Wisconsin 33-22.

The Badgers now get to face Marquette on the road. The Golden Eagles (6-2) are flying high, fresh off a 96-70 win over No. 6 Baylor.
