Richmond plans to retire from La Crosse Council, while another member seeks different office
A long-time La Crosse city council member is retiring.
Andrea Richmond will not seek another term in the April election. Richmond has served the far north end of La Crosse in the 1st District, first winning election in 1989. She also represented that area for a few years on the county board.
Tamra Dickinson has declared as a candidate for Richmond’s seat.
Another council member, Scott Neumeister of the 2nd District, indicates that he’s planning to run for the La Crosse school board in April.
North side residents had a keen interest in the La Crosse School District referendum in November, with concerns that Logan High School could be merged with Central into a new building. The referendum was soundly defeated.
Neumeister’s council seat is also on the ballot at that time, but he has not declared as a council candidate.
Four other city council members — Barb Janssen, Larry Sleznikow, Jenasea Hameister, and Chris Kahlow — have all declared as candidates for the April ballot.
