Serial liar Santos still survives somehow

We learned early on that lying is wrong, and there is punishment for those who tell lies. Unless you are a politician. We are used to politicians telling lies, promising to make all kinds of improvements if they are elected. But we haven’t seen anything like the lies that have come out of the mouth of George Santos. Santos was just elected to Congress to represent part of the state of New York. But it seems little of what Santos told voters on the campaign trail is actually true. For example, Santos told voters he went to college, and earned degrees from two different schools. Those schools have no record of Santos ever attending, much less graduating. He claimed to be Jewish, and said his grandparents escaped the Holocaust. Perhaps a nice story, but also not true. As for being Jewish, Santos has now admitted he is Catholic, but still claims to be Jew-ish. Nice try. Perhaps his most bold lie is that his mother died in the 9/11 attacks. She actually died in 2016, fifteen years after the tragedy. Despite Santos now admitting his resume was largely a lie, he is still scheduled to be sworn into office whenever Republicans select their speaker. It seems there is no punishment for telling lies on the campaign trail, but it seems clear there should be, or more voters risk being sold a bill of goods.
