As I See It

Zuck Bucks didn’t affect election outcome

The debate continues over the funding of our elections. Especially since some of the money funding the 2020 presidential election came in the form of “Zuck Bucks.” Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and his wife donated millions of dollars heading into the election to help make voting safer. This was at the height of the pandemic. Their foundation felt it important to help ensure voters had all the information they needed to cast their ballots. And that they could vote safely. But some have a problem with this. Two dozen states have banned or restricted private financing of elections, somehow suggesting it is an attempt to make it easier for democrats to vote. Wisconsin could be next. They argue that the bulk of the $10 million donated to Wisconsin counties went to the state’s big cities, and people there are more likely to vote democrat. That makes no sense. The money should be spent there, where the highest concentration of people is. That is the audience you are trying to reach. None of the ad campaigns funded by these donations told people to vote for a specific candidate or a specific party. Just how and where to vote. Zuck Bucks did not tip the scale in favor of Joe Biden. Launching a get out the vote campaign does not provide a partisan advantage.

Mark did give money to make voting easier. The problem was he concentrated on Democrat swing state cities. Most of his funds went there in the form of drop boxes and poll workers. He had a huge impact for the Democrats. Voters will never trust elections until voter ID is enforced and absentee ballots are strictly controlled. No ballot harvesting and a ballots should be requested with a proof of identity.

Hey Robert, I have requested from “Zuck Bucks” that they reimburse me for gas for when I come over during the next election and help you fill in your “mail in” ballot and drop it off for you at a privately funded drop box.
