Warmest January in 17 years in La Crosse gives way to warm February, with no new snow yet in the month

January in La Crosse was warmer and less snowy than normal, according to the weather service.  The average daily temperature last month at the airport was 5 degrees above normal, making it the warmest local January since 2006. 

Although it was the wettest January in La Crosse since 2017, the snowfall of 10 inches was below normal.  The city has received no new snow so far in February, and there were highs of 48 degrees on two days last week.

The high temperature for January was on the 15th, when the mercury got up to 41 degrees.
