Suspects in separate child sexual assault cases appear before La Crosse judge
A cash bond of $10,000 has been set for a 44-year-old man arrested in La Crosse for attempted sexual assault of a child.
Jeremiah Midstokke of La Crosse is accused of going on the internet to arrange a meeting with an undercover police officer that he thought was a teenage girl.
Police arrested Midstokke on Tuesday at an arranged meeting place off Rose Street. He’s also charged with possessing drugs, including meth.
Midstokke has a long record of convictions, mostly in La Crosse and Columbia counties.
In another case Wednesday, a daycare provider in La Crosse County made an initial court appearance on a child neglect charge.
Heather Reed of Bangor is suspected of injuring a baby, who was in daycare last fall.
Doctors discovered the baby, from a Bangor family, had a skull fracture, along with other bone fractures and bruises. The parents believe the injuries happened while the child was at daycare.
Reed is also charged with failing to get a license to operate a daycare facility. Another court hearing for Reed is set for next week.
