Grothman says he won’t limit himself to 10 years in Congress, announces for re-election
Congressman Glenn Grothman says he has changed his mind about retiring from the House after a decade.
The Fond du Lac area Republican says he’ll run for a sixth term next year, because he wants to continue working on his agenda. Grothman says the issues he supports won’t pass unless America gets ‘a more conservative president.’
When he first ran in 2014, Grothman, who is now 67, promised he would not serve in Congress more than 10 years.
In a recent telephone interview, he said “Nobody has told me I shouldn’t run again.”
Wisconsin Democratic Party spokesperson Joe Oslund said it was “no real surprise” that Grothman was breaking his term limits pledge.
“Glenn Grothman is seeking another term in Congress explicitly so he can keep up his attacks on folks’ retirement and health care, and it’s shameful,” Oslund said.
